The practice of yin yoga provides the perfect balance to your active (yang) yoga practices and your busy life. Yin Yoga works to develop flexibility in areas of the body that are often felt to be stiffer and less flexible especially the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Focusing on long-held floor poses combined with breath work and meditation, yin yoga goes beneath the superficial muscles to target the dense connective tissues of the body – often in the hips, pelvis, and low back – which are difficult to open and can result in both limited flexibility and stagnant energy.This type of practice complements the stronger, Yang styles of yoga such as Ashtanga, as well as training the body for learning to sit in meditation. It is active enough to give you all the benefits of yoga and easy enough for all to enjoy.
